[HTIDRS] Restaurant Tip #7

Hi Affiliate,

Richard Saporito here with Restaurant Tip #7...

In my last scheduled tip, I'd like to share a simple technique with
you that will help you save money and decrease liability at the
same time.

Many unnecessary injuries happen in restaurants each year as a
result of broken glass and plate ware. This results in added
liability exposure, increased human suffering, higher costs (ever
wonder why you're always ordering new glasses?), and reduced
customer satisfaction because of excess noise, distraction and an
overall unprofessional appearance.

Many accidents could be avoided if restaurants followed the
following advice:

1. Teach your entire dining room staff to use separately labeled
bus pans for soiled dining wares. Bus pans specifically for soiled
glassware and bus pans specifically for soiled plate ware. One
must understand that there are human beings (dishwashers) on the
other end that must use their hands to remove the dining wares from
these bus pans and place onto dishwashing racks. A large
percentage of restaurant injuries occur near the dishwashing area
and to the dishwashers. Using the above method will significantly
reduce breakage costs, injuries, staff loss and the liability that
comes with it.

2. Train all staff to work the restaurant dining room in an
efficient, but controlled manner. Most times, accidents occur
during the rush when everyone is at a higher velocity level. Sure,
everybody needs to move at a decent pace, but if you've employed my
efficiency tactics, there should be less of this frantic pace.

3. Read chapter #9 in my book How to Improve Dining Room Service
about Safety advice and guidelines for the Dining Room. Here, I
discuss many more ways to avoid accidents and improve restaurant
safety for customers and staff.

Well, that's it for my last scheduled tip...

I'll still stop by from time-to-time with more tips to help you
improve your restaurant's dining room service but it may be more
infrequently than it's been to this point.

To learn more, pick up a copy of my ebook "How To Improve Dining

[HTIDRS] Affiliate, Here's Tip #6

Hello again Affiliate,

Here's Restaurant Tip #6...

I think you'll really enjoy today's tip as it's easy to employ and
very effective...

Have you ever had an employee call-in sick to work or fail to show
up without advanced notice? Have you had an employee quit
unexpectedly without giving you adequate time to find a replacement?

These issues happen all the time and cause undue stress to
Restaurant Managers & Owners alike.

The solution?.. Cross-training!

By being proactive, you can cross-train your staff and avoid much
of the stress mentioned above.

Cross-training increases each employees worth and gives them the
skills necessary to fill-in when necessary.

It also promotes a stronger "team spirit" as they learn to
empathize with their co-workers by "walking a mile in their shoes."

In my experience, cross-trained employees are more confident in
their skills, more understanding of their co-workers, and more
productive as they have a greater understanding of the restaurant's
operation.

That's it for today. In my last tip, we'll discuss how to reduce
loss in your restaurant while at the same time increasing safety.

Best regards,
Richard Saporito

PS - Improve your restaurant's operation and increase profits with
the information I reveal in my ebook, "How To Improve Dining Room
Service."

[HTIDRS] Affiliate, Here's Tip #5

Hi Affiliate,

Richard here with Restaurant Tip #5...

Today, I'm going to cover some of the issues concerning Staff
Scheduling:

Did you know that improper scheduling and disregard to hours of
operation can have immediate and devastating effects to your
payroll and drag down morale?

Did you know that waitstaff are generally less effective when they
are working a slower shift?

Did you know that most waitstaff would rather not become so
overloaded with tables that it is almost physically impossible to
handle?

The issues, above, are primarily caused by either improper Staff
Scheduling or imbalanced seating by the Host/Maitre d'.

I've found that by maintaining a good balance in seating and
staffing levels your operation will run smoother and your staff
will be happier and more productive.

The key is to closely monitor your restaurant's traffic patterns so
you can schedule the appropriate number of employees per shift.

Too many employees and your staff morale will suffer along with
your payroll.

Too few employees and your staff will feel overwhelmed and your
customers dissatisfied with the service they received.

The solution is to have an easy to understand schedule that allows
everyone to spot inefficiencies at a glance.

That's why I've included a "Dining Room Schedule" (in both
Microsoft Excel and PDF formats) as a bonus to my "How To Improve
Dining Room Service" ebook. It includes the majority of features
asked of me by the restaurants I consult with and it does a very
solid job of increasing your efficiency in Staff Scheduling.

If you haven't gotten How To Improve Dining Room Service yet, go
here to get it and the six valuable bonuses I've included:
http://www.howtoimprovediningroomservice.com

In the next issue, I'll show you how to improve your staff's "team
spirit." If you do it right, it will also improve customer
satisfaction and make each employee more valuable to your operation.

Wishing you much success,
Richard Saporito

PS - If you have any questions for me Affiliate, please send
them to:info@howtoimprovediningroomservice.com and I'll do my best
to get back to you in a timely manner.

[HTIDRS] - Restaurant Tip #4

Hi Affiliate,

Richard Saporito back again with Restaurant Tip #4...

If you've been in the restaurant business for any length of time
you know how important it is to be organized and efficient.

Restaurants that excel in these areas have satisfied customers who
will sing their praise, while those that don't struggle
unnecessarily.

One way to improve your organization and efficiency is through the
use of a Dining Room Floor Diagram. Basically, the Floor Diagram
maps out each table of the restaurant and groups them logically
into "stations."

Each station contains a grouping of tables that can be efficiently
managed by one server. The stations should be well-balanced in an
attempt to care for customers and to spread business as evenly as
possible between your waitstaff.

Another feature of the Floor Diagram is something I call "customer
position points." It allows each chair at a table to be marked
with a "position number" and makes this numbering system easy to
understand by all staff.

Why is this so important?

Well, read the following scenarios and see if any of them sound
familiar...

*An entire dinner order is given to the wrong table

*A plate of food from gets served to the right table but is placed
in front of the wrong customer

*An entire table of diners have been completely ignored and are
growing more impatient by the minute

Each of these issues would be solved through better communication
and organization. This is why a Dining Room Floor Diagram is so
important; it improves communication between all staff members and
does so in a way that promotes efficient service.

Does it really work? Here's what one Restaurant Manager had to say...
"This is a great book for fixing dining room service problems.  Our
restaurant runs smoother now and our customers have never been
happier!"

Ted Lo Russo -
Manager, Canyon Road Restaurant,
NYC, New York

If you haven't gotten "How To Improve Dining Room Service" yet I
encourage you to give it another look. It contains valuable advice
that I obtained in my 30-plus years of restaurant experience in New
York City restaurants.

improper scheduling can increase your payroll and reduce both
productivity and employee morale.

Affiliate, Here's Restaurant Tip #3

Hello again Affiliate,

Richard Saporito here with Restaurant Tip #3...

As I mentioned in my last email, today's tip will help you increase
your sales and generate bigger tips for your waitstaff at the same
time.

In addition, it will also help to improve customer satisfaction so
it really is a Win-Win-Win technique.

Here's how (and why) it works...

Your customers will frequently have a variety of questions about
your menu. These may include the freshness (or origin) of a
particular menu item, the specific ingredients of a dish (for taste
or medical reasons) or they may simply ask their server for a drink
recommendation.

If your waitstaff are well-trained and supplied with a detailed
"Menu Description" sheet they will pass these "tests" with flying
colors!

Your customers will be delighted by the answers they receive.
This will enhance their satisfaction and overall opinion of your
establishment.

Because of this, they will frequently spend more as appropriate
drink, appetizer and dessert recommendations were made in an
appropriate and professional manner.

As customer satisfaction and average sales increase, your waitstaff
will experience an increase in tips. In my experience, this is the
most effective way to inspire them to deliver exceptional service
again and again.

In my next tip, I'll cover techniques to help you improve the
organization and efficiency of your dining room.

Wishing you much success,
Richard Saporito

PS - One of the bonus publications that I've included with my
ebook, "How To Improve Dining Room Service," is a Sample Menu
Description. In it, I show you how to transform your current menu

Day 7

Build Your List

Ahhhh. Day 7. You've arrived at last!

BUILD YOUR LIST

What's a list you ask?

This is your Opt-In list.... people who WANT to get emails
from you.

Who are these people? They could be people who have
purchased from your eBay auctions, people that visit your
web site anyone that joins your mailing list.

What? You don't have a mailing list?

I'll tell you how to get one started in a moment, but first
let me tell you why you need one.

People who sign up for mailing lists buy products. Most of
them are more inclined to purchase products related to the type
of list they sign up for .

I have a good friend who has a Opt-In list of 80,000 subscribers.
Anytime he writes a newsletter and promotes a product, he makes
money... and a lot of it!

When he first told me about this, I didn't' believe him. Then one
day he called me and said, "Hey watch this. I'm about to hit the
send button on my next newsletter." He then when to dinner.
After a few hours he called me again letting me know he had just
made a thousand dollars! In one weeks time he had made $6000.00
just from his one newsletter.

Was he sending out spam? No. Was it a big sales pitch? No.
He was sending out useful information his subscribers wanted to
here. In this information he would promote products that he
truly believed in and that he would make a nice commission
on if his readers purchased it.

So how does this help you?

You need to build your list!

Can you imagine if you had a list of 40,000 eBay users who signed
up just to hear your advice or recommendations? How do you think
this would impact your business? Your Opt-in list is like gold

So how do you get started?

You need to sign up for an Auto responder Service. Pick a good one.
Get one that is all automated. One that will send messages out
at specific times.

For this mini course I used Royal Responder.

http://profitcalc.com/royal

It allows people to subscribe to my Opt-In list or a mini-course
then automatically like clock-work sends the emails out at the times
I specify.

So how do you build your list?

You will want to place your Opt-In list sign-up form on your web site.
Also make sure you link to your home page on your eBay About Me page.

Put your Opt-In sign-up in your e-mail signature. When you communicate
with customers they will see this. Many of them will join.

It may take a while to build up a massive list, but if you invest the
time now it will be worth it in the long run.

Now you might be asking yourself, "But I'm not a good writer. How
can I do this and make it work."

Go and get Yanik Silver's book "Instant Sales Letters"

http://www.justmoneytalk.com/instantsalesletters.htm

I highly recommend this book if you plan to build an Opt-In list. It
will teach you how to write targeted content that will increase your
sales big time.

With your list you and now in a position to make some great income.

You see what I'm trying to get across here is that eBay is great, but
you must keep your options open. The more sales you make "Outside of eBay"
the more money you will have in your pocket at the end of the day.

Good day,

Joel Peterson

[HTIDRS] Affiliate, Here's Restaurant Tip #2

Hi Firstname,

Richard Saporito here with Restaurant Tip #2...

Today, we're going to discuss the very important issue of how to
keep diners from leaving your dining establishment during extremely
busy periods.

As I mentioned in the Dining Service Quiz, I believe the most
effective way to keep customers from leaving is to invite them over
to the bar or waiting area.

Once there, the Host/Maitre d'should offer menus to look over. If
the restaurant is so busy that these waiting customers start to
become very impatient, then complimentary menu items such as bar
snacks, cocktails or a simple appetizer should be offered in order
to keep them from leaving.

In my years of experience I've recognized that...

*Offering a complimentary menu item at the "right time" will
actually increase sales.

*Customers who were given a menu to look at while waiting are much
more likely to dine at your establishment and will generally order
more than those customers who were seated right away.

Why?

Well, here is what I've found...

The customers who were given a complimentary menu item tended to
order more because of something called the "law of reciprocity."

Basically, this is just a way of saying that people who have
received something of value for free are more likely to feel
obligated to "reciprocate."

In other words, they feel compelled to "give back" and the way they
typically do this is by ordering more than they usually would.

The customers who had a menu to look over generally order more for a
different reason... familiarity.

You see, they've had more time to look over your menu and become more
familiar with it. Frequently, they will find a number of appetizing
items they simply wouldn't have had the time to find otherwise.

The key is to treat your customers with the respect they deserve.
Time is precious and you want to make sure your customers know you
value their time.

In my next tip, we'll be covering a simple technique to increase
your sales and tips your waitstaff receive.

Until then, I wish you much success.

Best regards,
Richard Saporito

Day 6

What? Your only marketing on eBay?

eBay is a great place to make money. But is it the only
place to make money?

NO!

I think many sellers get comfortable with eBay and use
for their ONLY source of marketing online.

I'm going to give you three tips that can help you make
more money "Outside of eBay"

1. Get your own Web Store. You need to have your own
web site where customer can purchase items directly from
you. When you sell items directly in your store, you no
longer have to pay expensive eBay fees. Make sure your
eBay customers know about your store. You can advertise
your web site on your About Me page but make sure you
learn the rules first.

2. Learn about Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate Marketing
is the hottest way right now to make money selling other
people's stuff. Go and get Rosalind Gardner's book
"The Super Affiliate Handbook"

http://profitcalc.com/superaffiliate

She made $436,000 last year and gives you step by step
instructions how to do what she did.

3. Market using Pay Per Click search engines. Just
like eBay, people type keywords into search engines each
day for things they want to buy. Learn to capitalize on
this. Go and get Chris Carpenters book "GoogleCash".

http://profitcalc.com/googlecash

His book is the best out there. He teaches you step by
step how to marketing affiliate programs using Google Adwords.

Thats it.

The point I'm trying to make here is there is a lot of
money to be made online.... don't get the mind set that eBay
is the only way

Day 5

How To Use Your Competitors Keywords
And Not Break The Rules

Face it.

Keywords make all the difference.

Now this next tip is a little controversial... but if you
do it right it works very well.

How many times have you seen an auction title like this:

"Dell Axim Pocket PC Not Compaq IPAQ"

This is against eBay rules. You doing what is called
keyword spamming and it will get your auctions canceled.

But here is a way to do the same thing but keep it legal.

Create a "Compaq IPAQ Tips and Tricks Guide". Make it
into a little e-book or a text file. Put some valuable
information in it. It doesn't have to bee too long.
One or two pages is fine."

Now sell this along with your Dell Axim Pocket PC.

Your new title could be:

"Dell Axim Pocket PC with Compaq IPAQ Tips Guide"

This is 100% legal on eBay and I have been doing it for
years. I get WAY more hits on my auctions because of the
extra keywords in the title.

I talk about this and other tips in my free bonus "How
To List More Than 10 Items And Not Break The Rules"
You can get the free bonus by visiting my web site.

http://www.profitcalc.com

It works. Feel free to try it.

[HTIDRS] - Affiliate, Here's Restaurant Tip #1

Hello again Affiliate,

Richard Saporito here from HowToImproveDiningRoomService.com

Hopefully, by now you've had a chance to go through the Dining
Service Quiz I sent you the other day.

If you didn't get it for some reason, you can download it here:
==> http://www.howtoimprovediningroomservice.com/tentips/quiz.pdf

Today's tip revolves around the flow of dining room seating. This
is an issue for many restaurants and one that can be easily fixed
with a little planning and communication.

The truth is, many of the restaurants I consult with don't even
seem to grasp the importance of the issue. Here are just a few
situations that are caused by improper seating flow management...

*Because of uneven seating, some of the waitstaff will be running
around frantically while others will complain about the lack of
business.

*Some waitstaff will have a great night, financially speaking,
while others will make next to nothing. Remember, we're talking
about the same exact restaurant on the same exact night.

This causes unnecessary tension between staff and may have
long-lasting effects in the attitudes of your personnel.

*Dining Room Service suffers as the customers who are seated in the
over-burdened sections of the restaurant will likely get
less-than-optimal service.

This, of course, is an issue of extreme importance as Great
Customer Service is a restaurant's greatest asset in gaining repeat
business and increased business as satisfied customers spread the
"good news."

So, how do you solve this issue?

In my experience, the surest way to improve your dining room
seating flow is to train your Host/Maitre d' to keep an accurate
record of the seating allotments for each waitstation.

This way, they will be able to seat in an efficient manner and will
know at a glance which areas are filling up and those which are
ready for seating.

In the restaurant dining room , you are always looking for
balance and consistency.

In my next tip, we'll be covering techniques to keep diners from
leaving your restaurant during the busiest of times, so stay tuned!

Until then, I wish you much success.

Best regards,
Richard Saporito

Day 3

Use your eBay store to double your sales.

If you don't have an eBay store you could be losing money
big time.

Why?

Before you read why, sign up for an eBay store now.

http://profitcalc.com/ebaystore

When eBay stores first came out they were a flop. They
actually wanted you to pay big time listing fees to put
items in your store for up to 30 days but store items
don't appear in the regular eBay searches.

Because eBay stores were not doing that well eBay added
"Good Till Canceled" listings. The listing fees are only
5 cents every 30 days which is a total bargain. But the
big problem again is eBay store items don't appear in
regular searches.

So how can you still make money?

Simple. List a "Good Till Canceled" item and then PROMOTE
it using you regular eBay auctions. Put a section at the
bottom of your auctions with "mini ads" directly linked to
your eBay store items.

You are not breaking any rules because you are linking to
your own eBay auctions which is allowed.

Because eBay stores items are so much cheaper to list, its
an excellent way generate higher profits.

To see an example of this, visit my affiliate sign-up page
here. http://www.profitcalc.com/affiliates.htm

Scroll down to where you see my eBay "Ad" that you can insert
in an auction.

This ad links to the following auction in my eBay store
here. http://profitcalc.com/pc.htm

Try this method out. It could make you a lot of money.

Day 2

How to sell other people's stuff on eBay.

Are you familiar with Affiliate Marketing? If that phrase
is new to you I suggest you get the book "The Super Affiliate
Handbook" by Rosalind Gardner. Here is a link to the book.

http://www.justmoneytalk.com/superaffiliate.htm

In a nutshell, Affiliate Marketing is selling a product that
belongs to someone else. If you make a sale, you get paid a
commission.

So how can you do this on eBay? Most people tell me you can't.

But you can and I've been doing it for quite a while now.

Now first let me say this. eBay makes the rules. At any time
eBay can change the rules and make you change your strategy so
just realize this before you get started.

Here is what I do.

I find a product that offers affiliate commission. I then
register for the affiliate program and get my special affiliate
URL.

Next I create an eBay auction or an eBay store item. In my
description of the item I make it clear that the only way to
pay for the auction is to use a special "Check Out" link.

After I have a winner, I then e-mail the Check Out link to
the winner.

And that's it. I don't have to ship anything or collect any
money. When the winner uses my checkout link, I automatically
get a commission.

If you want to try this marketing method out, visit my affiliate
program for ProfitCalc.

http://www.profitcalc.com/affiliates.htm

I give you step by step instructions on how to setup a simple
program to make 60% commission.

The great thing about ProfitCalc is its all automated. After
the auction closes your customer will have the product within
minutes.

There are other ways to do affiliate marketing on eBay. I'll
cover these in the days to come.

Good day.

Day 1

Take Control Of Your Costs

It amazes me the response I get from my eBay sellers
when I ask them the question, "So you sold your Gizmo
for $69, what are your eBay fees on that item?" Usually
I get a blank stare and sometimes I get the response, "I
didn't know about eBay fees."

Understanding not just eBay fees but the entire cost
structure is crucial to any serious seller. Most sellers
realize they pay a listing and a final value fee but
forget about PayPal, auction management,
handling costs, and
the big one TIME!

Before you ever plan to sell an item, you need to know
exactly what the profit potential is or your wasting your
time.

----- sidebar -----

PayPal or Merchant fees can really KILL your profits!
Most people don't what these fees are because they
never actually have to physically "Pay" them. They
just automatically come out before you receive the
money. Keep track of these!

----- end sidebar -----

To keep track of these I recommend using a spreadsheet.
List all of your costs, including fees and then figure out
what your profit will be if your item sells for the price
you want. Many people will be surprised to find that many
times they are just barely breaking even.

To help you figure out these costs, use my spreadsheet
program that I developed. Its called ProfitCalc. You can
download it at:

http://www.profitcalc.com

My program takes cost control to the extreme. Thousands
of eBay powersellers use my program. Its kind of their
secret killer tool for maximizing their profits.

Good day,

Joel Peterson
joel@profitcalc.com
http://www.profitcalc.com

P.S. Tomorrow's lesson may be the most important of all
so stay tuned.

P.S.S. Ok, I'll give you a hint... I'm going to teach you
how to market affiliate programs on eBay!
